“Harvoni’s launch brought new howls about price gouging from insurers and a broad coalition of health care groups. They warn that the drugs, no matter how revolutionary, are ultimately unaffordable given the estimated 3 million Americans who may be infected with hepatitis C.  But it may be a turning point, says John Rother, who is leading the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing.  ‘The [drug] industry up until now, with some exceptions, has had a sense that we can’t push too far or we’ll kill the whole thing,’ said Rother. ‘Now you have a company that’s saying we want our money now and we don’t care what happens to anybody else. That’s what’s different with this.’”
