Washington, D.C. – The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP) today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“We appreciate President Trump’s commitment to making prescription drugs more affordable. While pharmaceutical companies continue to rake in record profits, too many Americans are being forced to choose between paying for their basic needs and taking the medicines they need to live.
“We’re encouraged to see leaders on both sides of the Capitol and on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue work to rein in out-of-control drug prices. However, it’s critical that policymakers continue to focus on and not be distracted from the central problem of prescription drug prices due to Big Pharma’s price setting.
“With Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle taking steps toward reining in out-of-control drug prices, we have a rare bipartisan opportunity to enact meaningful reforms that will hold Big Pharma accountable and bring relief to hardworking families. CSRxP will continue working with the Trump Administration and Congress to advance market-based solutions that boost competition, strengthen transparency and drive down prices for patients.”
