CSRxP LAUNCHES SEVEN-FIGURE “PROMISE” CAMPAIGN URGING CONGRESS TO HOLD BIG PHARMA ACCOUNTABLE

Comprehensive Effort Will Target D.C., In Addition To Nine Presidential & Senate Battleground States Calling For Passage of Bipartisan Solutions to Lower Prescription Drug Prices

Washington, D.C. – The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP) announced Tuesday the start of a comprehensive, seven-figure campaign targeting Washington, D.C., in addition to nine presidential and Senate battleground states, calling for policymakers to pass bipartisan, market-based solutions to hold Big Pharma accountable.  The campaign, which began airing its first ad “Struggling” on Tuesday, calls on the Trump Administration and Congress to deliver on their promise to lower drug prices and hold Big Pharma accountable by advancing bipartisan legislation.

“Congress and the administration promised to address the mounting crisis caused by out-of-control prescription drug prices,” said CSRxP executive director Lauren Aronson.  “And while the House did its part, bipartisan legislation remains stuck in the Senate.”

“Big Pharma continues to hike prescription drug prices amid a crisis of affordability that has left 58 million Americans struggling to afford their medications,” Aronson continued.  “At this critical moment, the Senate must act on this legislation that hold Big Pharma accountable and keep the path open to getting bipartisan solutions signed into law in 2020.”

In launching the campaign, CSRxP also noted there is no policymaker better positioned to encourage Senate action than President Trump.

“We commend the president for his dedicated commitment to lower prescription drug prices for Americans,” Aronson said.  “At this vital juncture, he is uniquely positioned to advance bipartisan solutions that will provide relief for American patients and hold Big Pharma accountable.”

The campaign will be engaged in nine states, plus Washington, D.C., including: Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
