Policies Must Address Big Pharma’s Egregious Practices That Cause High Drug Prices
Washington, D.C. – The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP) released the following statement Tuesday on President Biden’s remarks on prescription drug prices during the State of the Union address.
“CSRxP applauds the positive progress made by President Biden and lawmakers in the last Congress toward holding Big Pharma accountable and lowering prescription drug prices for patients and encourages policymakers to advance additional market-based solutions to crack down on Big Pharma’s egregious anti-competitive and price-gouging practices that are the root cause of out-of-control drug prices,” said CSRxP executive director Lauren Aronson. “Americans who face financial difficulty affording their medications deserve relief, especially patients who rely on insulin to survive.”
“Policies that cap out-of-pocket costs must also address Big Pharma’s egregious practices that cause these high prices,” Aronson continued. “CSRxP looks forward to continuing to work with the administration and Congress on bipartisan, market-based solutions to address Big Pharma’s egregious pricing practices and anti-competitive tactics to provide lasting relief for consumers and the U.S. health care system.”
