CSRxP Applauds Continued Drug Price Activity & Momentum On Capitol Hill

Encourages House Judiciary Committee To Advance Bipartisan CREATES Act

Washington, D.C. – The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP) today released a statement ahead of a pair of hearings on Capitol Hill Tuesday.

“These hearings and the legislative activity in Washington on the crisis of prescription drug prices are a welcome indication policymakers, on both sides of the aisle, have heard the call for action from American patients,” said CSRxP executive director Lauren Aronson.  “We commend the leaders of these committees for their dedication to raising the national dialogue on drug prices and advancing bipartisan, market-based solutions.”

The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary will hold a bill markup on a number of drug pricing measures.  Among the bills slated to come before the House Judiciary Committee is the CSRxP-endorsed, bipartisan CREATES Act:

“Passage of the bipartisan CREATES Act will be one of the most important first steps in rolling back the anti-competitive tactics of Big Pharma to lower prescription drug prices for all Americans,” said CSRxP executive director Lauren Aronson.  “We applaud the chairman, ranking member and members of the Judiciary Committee for taking up this important measure and encourage them to advance the bill without any revisions that could water down its effectiveness.”

The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will also meet for a hearing on “Prescription Drug Coverage in the Medicare Program:”

“Seniors and the disabled covered under the Medicare Part D program are some of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens, many of whom are struggling to afford the medications they need to live,” Aronson said.  “We urge members of the committee to continue to hold Big Pharma accountable, continue to advance bipartisan, market-based solutions and to question misguided proposals like the administration’s Rebate Rule.”
