Advisory: Panel Discussion on Big Pharma’s Patent Abuse with CSRxP Executive Director Lauren Aronson

Lawmakers and Experts Will Discuss Solutions to Hold Big Pharma Accountable for Anti-Competitive Tactics That Keep Drug Prices High

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, February 6 at 10:00 AM, Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP) executive director Lauren Aronson will participate in a panel discussion with U.S. Senators Peter Welch (D-VT) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) on solutions to hold Big Pharma accountable for anti-competitive tactics designed to game the patent system and keep prescription drug prices high. The event is titled “Breaking Down Big Pharma Patent Walls” and is being organized by Senator Welch’s office.

“CSRxP commends Senators Welch and Klobuchar for their commitment to holding Big Pharma accountable for gaming the patent system to boost profits, extend monopolies and keep prescription drug prices high,” said CSRxP executive director Lauren Aronson. “To lower drug prices for patients, Congress must advance bipartisan, market-based solutions to hold brand name drug companies accountable for egregious anti-competitive tactics like patent-thicketing and product-hopping that block access to more affordable alternatives.”
