The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing released the following statement attributable to CSRxP spokesman Will Holley:
“We applaud PhRMA’s newfound commitment to research and development. That said, new lifesaving treatments can only save lives if the patients who need them can also afford them. Denying certain companies the privilege of paying dues to a trade association does nothing to rein in the out-of-control prices of prescription drugs.
“If PhRMA’s members are serious about their commitment to affordability, we invite them to join us in supporting common-sense, bipartisan reforms like the CREATES and FAST Generics Acts that address equally-egregious, though less-publicized, anticompetitive abuses as the ones that prompted this change in policy.”
The Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing recently launched a national campaign to raise awareness about the root causes of the prescription drug price crisis in the United States, with the introductory spot, “PriceGougi$ol,” running nationwide.
