Washington, D.C. – This morning, the annual Medicare Trustees Report was released which highlighted Medicare’s growing prescription drug costs. In response, the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing issued the following statement from Executive Director John Rother:
“Today’s report shows that prescription drug spending in Medicare is even higher than previously projected. Prescription drug costs are rising much faster than other parts of Medicare and putting ever greater financial pressure on the program and on its beneficiaries. It’s no wonder that voters are making prescription drug prices a top issue in this election. The bottom line is that the drug market is broken, and it’s going to take increased transparency, competition, and value to get it on track.”
