Joins Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing

Washington, D.C. – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) announced today that it has joined the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing (CSRxP), a broad-based campaign working to curb rising prescription drug prices.  ACHP represents innovative health plans and provider groups that give coverage and care to more than 18 million Americans and are committed to developing new tools to meet challenges in the health care marketplace.

The organization will add its voice to the Campaign’s diverse membership including hospitals, physicians, nurses, consumers, health plans, pharmacists, and employers. ACHP’s members are local health plans across the country including Salt Lake City-based SelectHealth, Geisinger Health Plan and UPMC in Pennsylvania, HealthPartners in Minnesota, Priority Health in Michigan, and AvMed in Florida.

“ACHP’s expertise as a national leader in tackling health care challenges is invaluable and we are glad to have them on board,” said CSRxP Executive Director John Rother. “Patient-centered community health systems work with families struggling every day to afford costly prescription drugs, and those medications are only getting more expensive.”

“Sustainable drug pricing is crucial to the mission of ACHP plans to provide the best care to their members,” said ACHP President and CEO Ceci Connolly. “We look forward to working with the Campaign to ensure affordable care for all.”

The addition comes during CSRxP’s nationwide initiative to highlight voters’ concerns over high prescription drug prices and introduce its market-based solutions to voters, candidates, and elected officials. CSRxP’s recently unveiled set of market-based solutions would address the broken prescription drug market by focusing on increasing competition, transparency and value.
